GOVERNMENT ROLES

Federal - Major Projects Office (MPO)

The Major Projects Office (MPO) was established in 2025 under the Building Canada Act to support the advancement of major projects of national importance by coordinating federal review processes, regulatory approvals, financing considerations, and interdepartmental collaboration. Operating within the Privy Council Office, the MPO serves as a central coordination point among federal departments, provinces and territories, Indigenous partners, and project proponents. For municipalities, future large or complex nuclear projects may fall within the scope of the MPO, which may influence how federal processes are coordinated and sequenced.
